It's FINALLY HERE! December! And snow in Chicago! And never-ending made for TV Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. As Michael Scott would say, win win win.

Was it just me or did November seem unusually long? I typically like to get our Christmas tree the weekend before Thanksgiving because duh–stretch out the Christmas season as long as possible. But it all just fell too early this year. So we waited and went the Sunday after Thanksgiving which was crazy busy... most of the trees were picked over by mid-day. But we found the last 7'–a new height for me! I've always played it safe w/ a 6' apartment-size tree, and realized we have the ceilings for extra height. Anywho... I've been browsing ornaments all week–I always like to add some new ones to our collection every year. And boy are there good ones out there!

I'm a big fan of a collected Christmas tree: where no two ornaments are the same, and the more unique, whimsical, and fun the ornaments are, the better. A tree that makes you want to take a second look and choose a favorite. Dan and I both have a small selection of ornaments from our childhood (my favorites) but not enough to cover a tree, so we've slowly been building on what we have every year.

Quite a few stores have light-up ornaments this year, which I've never seen before and I'm not going to lie, are pretty wonderful. The one in the first photo is sold out on Pottery Barn's website, but they have it in stores for 30% off! I chose a few of my other favorites I saw online, a few of which I've added to our tree, in case any of you are in the market! A number of them are under $10 because of sales. Yay! :)

Which is your favorite? Do you make ornaments yourself, collect certain styles or brands, or just wait to get them as gifts?
