LONDON AND EDINBURGH

DOWNTOWN ABBEY, PEMBERLEY, ETC.

After a lot of back and forth, Dan and I finally settled on a destination and booked our flights for our spring honeymoon! We had always planned on taking it in April or May once it warmed up but before the busy summer travel season. Going somewhere neither of us had been was a top priority–and while I have been to London, it was a decade ago and Danny's never been, so we'll spend 2-3 days there before venturing off on the wrong side of the road toward Edinburgh with as many detours as possible along the way.

We've been watching a lot of Downton Abbey, Harry Potter, Outlander, Game of Thrones (which let's be honest, Westeros is practically the UK), and most recently The Crown... so it'll be kind of amazing to visit some of the beautiful, romantic destinations we've loved on screen. Staying in cozy B&Bs, taking long hikes, going horseback riding, drinking too much wine and beer at moody corner pubs, strolling charming streets... all via a road trip which is our favorite MO. We're excited!

The must-see stops shown above include the Cotswolds, Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), the Peak District, Edinburgh, and exploring some of the highlands in Scotland. I'd REALLY love to sepdn one night at the Farmhouse in Oxfordshire because it looks bananas. But we'd love any and all recommendations if you've explored the English or Scottish countryside! We're off at the end of April and only have a week and a half!

What I'm Wearing This Holiday Season (all 30% off) by Alaina Kaczmarski

I don't shop a ton–it usually involves a few new basic staples for the season that I proceed to wear multiple days a week (affectionately known as my uniform). The slouchy turtleneck sweaters and the plaid pj's above are exactly that: my holiday uniform. I also picked up a couple fun things for our living room. The bottle brush car was believe it or not, from Home Depot! And the stocking is for Dan to coincide w/ the needlepoint stocking I've had since I was 4 years old. We don't have a mantel or anything to hang them to, but these little reindeer stocking holders or this more simple hanger do the trick!

Most everything on this list is 25-40% off right now! Which is why I got the sweater in two colors... both of which have already been on rotation since the temps dropped in Chicago this past Saturday.

In other news–it's my most favorite week! Thanksgiving Week!! The true kick-off for the holidays! We are heading all over the Midwest starting tomorrow. A trip out to Naperville, then heading north into Michigan to visit both our families.  Plus our Everygirl Gift Guide launched yesterday–it has over 250 items under $100 for every single person on your list. What are your plans? Are you starting holiday shopping yet?
